We spent the weekend in Arlington, Texas this weekend with Jacob's cross country team at the regional meet. I was surprised at the number of participants and spectators. Who knew running was such a big sport in high school? Running is actually new to Jacob, but he likes it and is pretty good at it. Their team came in tenth, which is respectable. They have a few freshman (Jacob included) running this year so it is a young team. Our team's shirts said, "Why are you chasing us?" on the back. It made me laugh. Another one said, "Our sport is your sport's punishment!" Cross country coaches has a sense of humor as well.
For those wondering, we will not be home for Thanksgiving. Well actually we will be home...in Texas. I am a little excited about having the whole responsibility of dinner by myself. I feel so gorwn-up this year. I am getting lots of good recipes from The Pioneer Woman Cooks. After Thanksgiving, I will be heading back to Georgia to stay with Marin and be there for all of her Nutcracker activites. She is so excited about getting to be a "cousin" this year. She is also dancing as an Angel. Of course, she is always an angel, you know!
I am all caught up. This blogging thing is hard to get started, but getting better. I don't know how all these blogs that I read keep it up so faithfully. I am a little too ADD for that, I think.
Have a happy!

First and Ten, October 30, 2007
Today is the first day of my blogging life. I have many friends who are wondering how we are since we moved to Texas and this seems to be the best and latest greatest way to keep in touch. For most of you that will read this, you already know all about us. In the event that some poor, bored soul wonders out here, I will give them a little background. I will give it in small doses because it is after all not page-turning reading.
FIRST AND TEN
Well that would be what we hear several times every Thursday and Friday night since football season started. Jacob is playing Freshman football and the trumpet in the high school band. Basically, we have to be at every game, twice a week, every week. I love high school football, but too much of anything (even a good thing) is just that...TOO MUCH. Jacob's first high school touchdown:
On Friday nights, Jacob plays for the high school band. This is very different for us since military style marching is strictly an east Texas thing. We have certainly enjoyed watching our band, but at competition...wow...how many ways can you walk in a straight line? Here is a video of one of Jacob's latest performances. Make sure you have the sound turned on...you know band. music
This week, Jacob has the regional cross country meet in Arlington. We will be seeing a part of Texas that we have not yet seen . We are also finally going to get to see what all the hype is about cross country. I guess we are bad parents since we have missed all his matches. I figured all we could see is the start and finish and the middle sounded rather uneventful. But, we are going to give it a try and I will let you know how that goes. I will try to post some pictures in my posts, but it is going to take some practice for me to get to the level of blogging of some that I read. Please be patient and sign the guestbook to let me know you are hear. It will not be fun to write if no one is reading.
